NHF SUMMER SERIES

Join us for our Summer Series: Finding God in the Everyday. This series will be a little different, and very much us!

We are inviting members of our community to share a story or testimony about where they have experienced God in the midst of ordinary life. These aren’t meant to be polished or perfect stories, but honest testimonials and reflections from real moments. At the heart of this series is a simple question: Can we see God in each other’s lives and learn how to name that? The text to anchor the series is Genesis 28:16, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I was not aware of it.”

This series is about both our witness and our withness. It is about bearing witness to where we have found God in the everyday moments of life, but it is also about being with one another in those moments. Listening with compassion. Standing in solidarity. Learning how to carry joy, grief, hope, doubt, healing, and struggle together as a community shaped by the way of Jesus.

These stories might help someone else feel less alone or recognize God in their own life. They might help someone find language for their own experience and even take a step toward hope or healing. As we listen to one another this summer, our prayer is that we will become more attentive to God’s presence in our everyday lives, and more present to one another along the way.

Resource for this series: An Altar in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor.
